The Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) Region is characterized with high prevalence of HIV and other STIs which has created a critical need to help inform and build the skills of young people around issues of sexuality and HIV prevention. School settings provide an important opportunity and an appropriate structure to reach large numbers of young people with comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) to equip them with the knowledge and skills to make responsible choices about their sexual and reproductive health. For most countries in the ESA region, scale-up of CSE has been slow due to the volume of training needs, personal discomfort with discussing sex and sexuality, and lack of skills in the use of participatory teaching methodologies. Equipping teachers with the knowledge, skills and comfort levels for effectively delivering sexuality education is therefore critical to ensure that learners receive accurate and age-appropriate information that will help guide them through adolescence and enable them to make responsible decisions that impact their current and future sexual and reproductive health and overall well-being.

Assessment and Certification

To qualify for the certificate of completion for this course, participants must successfully complete all the assessment components. Additionally, you will need to complete a quiz at the end of each Unit with a pass mark of 80%.
